The southern end of the Chief has three main areas, the Western Dihedrals,
the Tantalus Wall, and the Bulletheads. The Western Dihedrals have seen
relatively little development except at the base of the wall, but offer
some adventurous climbing through the many steep corners, as well as one
fine long route, Freeway. The Bulletheads at the far south end are a series
of somewhat cylindrical towers seperated by treed gully systems. Lots
of routes here, though the dubious routefinding and vegetated nature of
the area has limited its popularity. In the center however is the fantastic
Tantalus Wall, nearly 300 metres of sheer granite. The wall offers a number
of aid lines, as well as two striking free routes.

Access
Park in the main Chief parking lot and walk south down the old highway
towards the climber’s campground. From the south end of the campground,
follow a trail through the forest directly up to the cliffs of the Bulletheads.
The trail heads north along the base of the cliff. Alternately, approach
as for the Grand Wall and walk south along the base of the cliff. If you
haven’t climbed at the Chief before, take the trail along the base.
